The Library and Information Society has launched a campaign to encourage the public to donate their spare time to a library for a $50 donation.

The library has been on the drawing board for several years and will initially focus on library research.
The Institute for Sustainable and Environment, or IESE, is a research and development centre set up by the Australian Government to develop the science and technology needed to develop sustainable technologies and solutions for society.
The institute is funded by the National Infrastructure and Infrastructure Finance Corporation and the Department of Environment and Heritage.

Key dates:20 December: The Institute of the Arts will hold a public art exhibition on the library’s former premises.
It will feature works by artist Paul Kelly and will open in the lobby of the former St Vincent’s building, on the Strands.
The exhibit will be accompanied by a documentary film, which will be released in early 2019.25 December: A public arts exhibition on a former library is to be held at the old library building.
The film will feature a visit from local artist Sarah Lai and a series of events that will involve community participation.28 December: It is set for release in early 2020.
The exhibition is set in a restored, Victorian-style library.28 February: The IESE will hold its first conference to address the library and its future.
The conference will focus on the current state of the building and the future of the project, as well as the future use of the site.10 March: The new IESE building will be built.
The project is set at a cost of $1.3 billion.
