Apple has been quietly working on a new iOS 10 release for a while, and while the details of the new release have been slowly leaked over the past few months, the iOS 10 beta release has officially been confirmed for a release in October.
The beta is the first public sign that Apple is working on an official release, though the details surrounding it have been somewhat sketchy.
The developer’s release notes for the iOS10 beta state that “The new features and improvements in iOS 10.1 are still in early development, and will be announced soon.”
While Apple has yet to reveal the final name for the new beta, the name could be a direct reference to the iOS 11 release, which is scheduled for October 10.
Apple’s iOS 10 update will reportedly be available for developers to distribute to users, and the new version of the OS will likely include a number of new features.
It will also be available to Apple Music subscribers.
The iOS 10 developer release notes also indicate that Apple will “launch a new app for iPad that is optimized for mobile viewing and that is also designed to work across iPad and iPhone screens.”
The app will not include a new UI design, though.
A few of the apps and features in the iOS 9 beta are also on the new iOS 11 beta, which could include the upcoming iCloud Drive, new AirDrop, and other iOS 11-specific features.
